Senior Software Engineer

About the role

The Senior Software Engineer will develop and enhance components and applications using functional and detailed design requirements documentation, programming languages, and change management and quality assurance processes to the benefit of the enterprise, and during which it is necessary to collaborate with others to produce the appropriate documentation, estimates, and other artifacts to complete work on time, within budget, and within scope.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualize, design, program, test, implement, and deploy software applications using the appropriate documentation, processes, and quality standards.
• Provide business and project expertise when collaborating with clients, IT resources, vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders to identify the user requirements, assess technologies, recommend and implement technical solutions.
• Ensure accuracy of coding, create technical documentation; utilize software configuration, version, and quality management processes.
• Work with project participants to maximize productivity, effectiveness, and timely completion.
• Provide training and guidance to less experienced personnel.
• Work independently with minimal direct supervision; exercise independent judgment to obtain results.
• Consult with senior-level management; may serve as a project technology lead or as a functional specialist.
• Work on significant and/or unique issues where analysis of data requires the evaluation of intangibles.
• Independently applies problem-solving skills to investigate and research complex system problems to establish root cause and resolution.
• Shares information willingly when appropriate; recognizes confidential information and handle with discretion.
• Special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 5 years in a structured environment working on systems, applications, programming, development, testing, implementation, and deployment required.
• At least 7 years of in-depth knowledge and experience in: C#, .NET Framework 4.5+, T-SQL
• At least 2 years of development experience in: .NET Core, JavaScript, REST API, Entity Framework
• Preferred UI development experience with Angular (latest), React, CSS 3+, HTML 4+, TypeScript
• Software development lifecycle using structured processes.
• Practical knowledge of Agile principles and ability to lead SCRUM ceremonies
• Experience with cloud development (Azure preferred)
• Competent with tool use to manage the following functions: code management, unit testing, integration testing, version control, and prototyping.
• Mortgage origination industry experience highly preferred
• Experience and working knowledge of AI such as RAG/Graph/LLMs are preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Responsible for one or more applications, working with Business Systems Manager and Business Analyst counterparts on planning and delivering code changes to production, ensuring teams work on schedule

Provide business and project expertise when collaborating with clients, IT resources, vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders to identify the user requirements, assess technologies, recommend and implement technical solutions.

Participate in the estimation process.

Responsible for source code development; create technical documentation; utilize software configuration, version, and quality management processes.

Responsible for unit testing, performance tuning, defect remediation during testing, and deployment planning

Participate in Production Support Escalation if necessary for high-severity issues within their application domain

Is capable of analyzing, designing, and developing complex programming systems independently.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field. Master’s degree in a technical field is preferred.

8+ years of related experience developing software. Mortgage industry experience is preferred.
