Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer for a hybrid contract opportunity in Austin, Texas.
Responsibilities:
The AI Engineer will develop AI/ML proof-of-concept demonstrations and build scalable AI/ML solutions that integrate with enterprise workflows and technology platforms. This role will collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, developers, and infrastructure teams to gather requirements, design AI solutions, train and validate machine learning models, and transition successful prototypes into production environments. Responsibilities include developing scalable AI pipelines, writing efficient Python code and automation scripts, conducting testing and quality assurance, supporting AI governance and security requirements, facilitating stakeholder communication, promoting reusable development practices, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience writing and debugging Python code.
Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals and experience building or training models using frameworks such as Scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
Experience using Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to learn and support production engineering practices including Docker, CI/CD, and cloud deployment.
Basic experience working in command-line environments and terminal-based tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Docker or containerization technologies.
Exposure to computer vision projects using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or OpenCV.
Knowledge of Bash or PowerShell scripting.
Familiarity with cloud AI services such as Azure AI, AWS SageMaker, or Google Vertex AI.
Experience with NoSQL or vector databases.
Portfolio showcasing academic, personal, open-source, hackathon, or machine learning projects.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
Knowledge of data pipelines, streaming technologies, or Kafka.
Demonstrated interest in applied AI/ML research and emerging technologies.
