Software Engineer
About the role
Join a collaborative engineering team building data-driven platforms that power analytics, measurement, and activation for retail media initiatives. This hybrid role combines data engineering and backend development, giving you the opportunity to work across Google Cloud Platform and Java/Spring services in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and improve data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform to ingest, transform, and publish datasets used for analytics and measurement
Develop and support workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow, including scheduling, dependencies, retries, and monitoring
Create scalable batch and streaming data transformations with Google Cloud Dataflow and Apache Beam
Design, model, and optimize datasets in BigQuery with attention to performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
Partner with analytics, product, and downstream users to ensure data is accurate, well-documented, and trusted
Design and build RESTful APIs using Java and Spring / Spring Boot to support data products and platform capabilities
Write clean, testable code and contribute to strong operational practices, including monitoring and incident response
Participate in code reviews, collaborative development, and Agile delivery practices
Skills
2–5+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience
Hands-on experience with BigQuery, including schema design, SQL, and query performance optimization
Experience using Airflow and/or Dataflow to build and manage data pipelines
Strong Java development skills with experience in Spring or Spring Boot
Experience building REST APIs with a focus on maintainability, reliability, and performance
Solid understanding of data structures, API integration patterns, and software testing
Comfort working in production environments and supporting operational excellence
Strong communication skills and the ability to balance data quality, latency, cost, and reliability
Preferred Skills
Experience with Apache Beam, especially in a Dataflow environment
Exposure to CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins
Familiarity with containerization and infrastructure as code, such as Terraform
Experience with logging, metrics, tracing, or other observability tools
Background in retail, ad tech, or measurement and attribution domains
