About The Department
The team operates within Wealth Management Technology, supporting the CashApp Money Movement platform used by Franklin Templeton’s High Net Worth business.
CashApp Is a Mission-critical Platform Responsible For
Processing client cash transactions (ACH, Wires, Check)
Generating outbound transaction files and parsing inbound files (e.g., NACHA, wire files, positive pay)
Integrating with downstream systems such as the accounting platform, Cash Agents, Axway, and Azure storage
Supporting operational workflows and regulatory validations
The Platform Has High Transaction Sensitivity, Requiring
Strict compliance with AML/KYC, OFAC, and audit controls
High availability and accuracy due to client impact and settlement deadlines
The Team Operates In An Agile Delivery Model With
Regular sprint-based releases and governance cycles
Strong coordination between Business, Dev, QA, Product, and Operations teams
Team Structure And Culture
Cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, product, and support
Mix of onshore, offshore, and vendor resources
Focus on ownership, resilience, and continuous improvement

Job Overview
The Lead Software Engineer will be a senior-level software developer who can operate independently for the CashApp platform and its downstream components, ensuring reliable, scalable, and compliant money movement capabilities.
The Lead Software Engineer Will
Deliver end-to-end money movement features
Own critical components across transaction processing, integrations, and workflow orchestration
Improve system reliability, performance, monitoring, and automation coverage
Conduct code peer reviews and support branching strategy and team collaboration
Success In This Role Enables
Accurate and timely execution of client transactions
Avoidance of business impacts such as missed cut-offs and delayed settlements
Faster delivery of new digital payment capabilities using agent-based code generation
Improved operational efficiency and reduced manual intervention
How You Will Add Value
Design, develop, and maintain CashApp transaction processing components
Review designs and solutions with the Architecture team
Support and enhance payment workflows (ACH, Wires, Check)
Perform root cause analysis and resolution for production incidents and failures
Ensure high system performance, reliability, and observability
Modernize CashApp components to a cloud-native microservices architecture
Improve automation coverage for regression, API, and downstream validations
Enhance integrations with the accounting platform, Cash Agent platform, AML Monitoring Systems, Compliance Recon and Monitoring Systems, Azure-based cloud hosting environments, and external payment systems
Collaboration
Partner With
Architecture team for review
Product Owners for feature prioritization and roadmap delivery
QA teams to improve automation coverage and release quality
Operations teams to ensure smooth production releases and incident response
Participate In
Daily stand-ups
Sprint planning and retrospectives
Governance and release signoffs (e.g., CashApp TQA cycles)
Work Closely With Stakeholders Across

Experience In
Functional integration between applications and existing agents
Generating high-quality code by using prompts efficiently
Debugging complex transaction flows

8+ years of software engineering experience
Experience leading critical platform components or modules
Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Ability to handle high-pressure, production-critical scenarios
Effective communication with Engineering, Architecture, Product, and Business teams
Experience working in Agile, distributed team environments

Work Schedule & Location
This role will work a hybrid schedule three days per week in any of our Franklin Templeton locations, with a preference for locations in the Eastern time zone.
