Data modeling
Strong hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform:

4+ years of professional software engineering experience
Design & Architecture
Strong grounding in modular design, including:
Clear separation of concerns
Well-bounded components/services
Low coupling and high cohesion
Ability to design horizontally scalable systems, including:
Statelessness where appropriate
Partitioning/sharding strategies
Load distribution
Avoiding single points of contention
Working knowledge of core design patterns and principles, with the ability to understand when to apply or avoid them
API & Real-Time Integration
Strong understanding of RESTful API design, including:
Resource modeling
Versioning
Pagination
Idempotency for retries
Proper status codes
Error contracts
Practical experience with WebSocket-based real-time communication, including:
Connection lifecycle management
Reconnection/backoff strategies
Heartbeat/keep-alive handling
Graceful degradation when a socket connection drops
Understanding of the trade-offs between REST, WebSockets, and event-driven/streaming integration patterns, with the ability to select the appropriate approach for the use case
Experience designing integrations for observability and resilience, including:
Structured logging
Timeouts
Circuit breakers
Clear failure modes
Highly Desired
Working knowledge of Java; candidates comfortable with both Python and Java are ideal
Healthcare domain experience, particularly in healthcare, health-tech, or health-data platforms
ML/AI exposure sufficient to reason about:
Model outputs
