Senior Full Stack Software Engineer – Java / React
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Work Model: Hybrid – 4 days onsite / 1 day remote
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a team responsible for developing and supporting a large-scale advertising technology platform. This engineer will work across both backend services and frontend applications that support campaign management, search, targeting, and advertising operations.
This is a true full-stack position with responsibilities across Java/Spring Boot backend development and React/TypeScript frontend development. While there is a slight emphasis on backend engineering, candidates should be comfortable contributing across the entire technology stack.
The team is currently focused on improving operational efficiency, modernizing its platform, and enhancing the overall user experience of its Mission Control advertising system.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build and enhance frontend functionality using React and TypeScript
Develop services supporting campaign trafficking, search, targeting, and advertising workflows
Design and implement integrations across services using REST APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven architecture
Work with MySQL and other application data technologies
Contribute to modernization efforts involving service architecture, shared libraries, and platform independence
Support CI/CD pipeline adoption and improvements to engineering and deployment processes
Participate in system design, architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making
Troubleshoot production issues and provide operational support across multiple services
Collaborate with engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders on cross-service initiatives
Help improve and modernize an established advertising platform while reducing manual processes for internal users
Required Qualifications
Approximately 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong experience with Java
Hands-on experience developing applications with Spring Boot
Experience with React
Experience with TypeScript and/or JavaScript
Experience developing and integrating REST APIs
Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL
Strong understanding of full-stack application development
Ability to work across both backend and frontend systems
Experience working within distributed or service-oriented architectures
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with GraphQL
Experience with Node.js
Experience with event-driven systems or technologies such as Kinesis
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Experience modernizing or decoupling legacy services
Experience working with advertising technology, campaign management, or digital media platforms
Experience supporting production systems and troubleshooting issues across multiple interconnected services
What You’ll Be Working On
The team owns more than ten services and components supporting the advertising ecosystem. Current initiatives include improving campaign trafficking and filtering capabilities, modernizing event infrastructure, migrating functionality to GraphQL, improving CI/CD processes, and enhancing the overall user experience.
You’ll join a full-stack engineering environment where engineers share responsibility across frontend and backend development. The workload is approximately balanced between the two areas, although there is currently a slightly greater need for strong backend Java expertise.
