Software Engineer | Glenwood, IL

I'm partnering with a well-established technology organization that is looking to add a Software Engineer to the engineering team supporting software used in industrial and healthcare-related environments.

This is a great opportunity for a software engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of software development, databases, industrial equipment, and automation.

What you'll be doing

You'll join a team of approximately 4 engineers developing and supporting applications that interact directly with industrial equipment and machinery, as well as applications focused on data analysis.

Approximately 60% of the applications interact with machines/equipment, while the remaining 40% are focused on data and analytics.

You'll be involved in:

Developing applications that interface with industrial equipment using PLC frameworks

Building and maintaining applications using C# and/or VB.NET

Designing and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases

Developing and optimizing stored procedures, views, and complex SQL queries

Working with SSIS and Entity Framework

Troubleshooting application performance, machine timing, and system latency issues

Building, deploying, and maintaining applications using Git, Octopus Deploy, and TeamCity

Supporting applications and integrations across AWS and on-premise industrial environments

Working with Jira and Confluence in an Agile development environment

Collaborating closely with engineers and other technical stakeholders to improve existing systems and develop new functionality

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have:

Professional experience developing software that interfaces with industrial equipment, machinery, or PLC-based systems

Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server

Experience with C# and/or VB.NET

Experience with database design, data modeling, SQL optimization, stored procedures, and complex queries

Experience with SSIS and/or Entity Framework

Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, particularly around system performance and latency

Experience with Git

Familiarity with AWS and cloud/on-premise integrations

Experience working with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence

📍 Glenwood, IL — onsite

Candidates in the Chicago area or Northwest Indiana are strongly preferred.

There is flexibility to transition to a hybrid schedule after approximately 3–6 months
