Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled, results-oriented Senior Embedded Avionics Software Engineer (Level II/III) to design, implement, and verify safety-critical real-time embedded software for Next-Generation Avionics (NGA) platforms in Phoenix, AZ. In this high-impact engineering role, you will lead software lifecycle activities across flight decks and sub-systems, driving compliance with strict aerospace software standards while delivering resilient, high-performance flight software.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Design & Architecture: Architect, write, and debug safety-critical real-time embedded software in C and C++ for next-generation flight deck displays, flight controls, and core avionics platforms.
Low-Level Software Development: Develop and optimize Board Support Packages (BSPs), hardware abstraction layers, device drivers, and avionics communication protocols (including ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, and Ethernet).
Verification & Testing: Conduct robust unit testing, software integration, structural coverage analysis (MC/DC), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to ensure software reliability and defect-free operation.
DO-178C Certification: Ensure full compliance with RTCA/DO-178C Level A/B safety-critical flight certification standards throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Integration & Peer Reviews: Participate in technical architecture reviews, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) automated testing workflows.
Hardware-Software Integration: Partner closely with systems, hardware, and verification teams to troubleshoot complex system-level behaviors on physical test benches and target hardware.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience: 3–7 years of hands-on embedded software development experience using C and C++ in Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) environments (such as VxWorks, Green Hills Integrity, or PikeOS).
Aerospace Standards: Proven practical experience navigating the DO-178C certification lifecycle, requirements traceability, and verification methodologies.
Hardware & Protocols: Deep understanding of microcontroller/processor architectures, memory management, and hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN, PCIe, UART).
Technical Acumen: Strong debugging abilities using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG emulators, paired with a relentless dedication to safety-critical software quality.
