The Opportunity
Due to an exciting expansion driven by strategic growth and evolving mission requirements, we are seeking a highly skilled Forward Deployed Engineer. This pivotal role places you at the forefront of applied AI systems development, working directly with government partners across research and operational environments. You will play a crucial part in deploying mission-critical AI applications, from experimental models to robust production systems, within high-security contexts. This is an exceptional chance to contribute to impactful projects that enhance national security and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement autonomous AI systems supporting high-priority government missions, from initial prototypes through live deployment.
Design, engineer, and integrate large language model (LLM) applications, including multi-agent configurations, tool-using agents, RAG workflows, and human-in-the-loop autonomy frameworks.
Collaborate closely with deployed government teams to translate complex operational needs into effective technical solutions.
Construct and sustain large-scale data pipelines for model training, validation, and ongoing performance enhancement.
Create and optimise infrastructure for model inference, testing, and deployment across various AI platforms.
Manage the full system lifecycle, ensuring security, reliability, and continuous improvement of operational AI assets.
Candidate Profile
Proven ability to operate independently within ambiguous, partner-facing environments, taking full ownership of technical and operational tasks.
Advanced Python skills with comprehensive experience in managing entire project lifecycles.
Hands-on experience developing with large language models and creating agentic AI systems.
Familiarity with data pipelines and machine learning infrastructure frameworks.
Knowledge of reinforcement learning workflows and simulation environments is advantageous.
Experience working in environments with high security and reliability requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Must have an active security clearance.
Past experience supporting US government, defence, intelligence, or national security projects.
Background working in fast-paced startup environments or government agencies involved in critical missions.
