Software Engineer
About the role
Software Engineers - Multiple Opportunities
Greater Boston | Onsite near Dedham, MA
What if your next software role wasn't about joining a team to maintain something that already exists?
What if you could actually help build what comes next?
I'm working with a long-established global business operating at the intersection of technology, secure manufacturing and digital products. They support some of the world's most recognizable organizations, producing both physical and digital solutions used in highly secure, regulated environments.
But this isn't a traditional manufacturing technology environment.
They're in the middle of a major transformation, modernizing platforms, consolidating legacy systems, building new digital products and using AI to completely rethink how the business operates.
And they're building the engineering team to do it.
The Roles
There are multiple software engineering opportunities available across different areas of the business.
Rather than hiring narrowly against one specific job description, they're interested in meeting strong engineers and figuring out where their experience, interests and strengths fit best.
You could be working on:
New customer-facing platforms and digital products
Modernizing and replacing legacy systems
Data and analytics platforms
Content and document technology
APIs, integrations and distributed systems
Internal platforms that support global manufacturing and operations
AI-enabled tools and applications
Building entirely new products from the ground up
There's a real opportunity here to own a product, problem or domain, rather than simply picking up tickets from a backlog.
The engineering organization itself is still evolving, so the people joining now will have a genuine influence over how things are built.
The Right Person
This is where things are a little different.
The exact tech stack matters less than how you think.
They want engineers who are curious, technically strong and naturally inclined to build things.
People who see a problem and start thinking:
"There has to be a better way to do this."
You might have 2-4 years of experience. You might have 5-7+. There are opportunities at different levels.
What matters more is that you:
Are a genuine full-stack engineer, rather than being limited to one narrow part of the stack
Enjoy solving ambiguous problems and figuring things out
Can work directly with business teams and understand what actually needs to be built
Want ownership and responsibility
Learn new technologies quickly
Are comfortable working in an environment where not everything has already been defined
Are actively using AI in your development workflow, or building with it yourself
See AI as something that changes how software is built, not simply another tool on the list
If you're the person experimenting with Claude, Copilot, agents, automation or new frameworks before someone tells you to, you'll probably fit in well here.
Technology
There isn't one rigid stack.
The current environment includes technologies such as:
React / Angular | .NET | Azure | REST APIs | Microservices | CI/CD | GitHub Copilot | Claude Code
But strong engineers coming from backgrounds such as Java, AWS, GCP or other modern object-oriented/backend environments will absolutely be considered.
They would rather hire someone with strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn than reject a great person because they have AWS instead of Azure on their resume.
Why This One Is Interesting
You're joining an established business with global customers and real-world products - but the technology environment has almost a startup mentality.
There are decades of systems to modernize, entirely new products to build and significant investment going into technology and AI.
That means there is a lot of space to make an impact.
You could join at Software Engineer level and end up owning a major product area because you saw an opportunity and ran with it.
There aren't layers of committees deciding exactly what you are allowed to work on.
If you're currently feeling underused, boxed into a narrow role or like one engineer among thousands, this could be a very different environment.
