About The Role

The Boeing Company is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our Phantom Works team in Berkeley, MO. This role is integral to supporting the Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) Solutions within the Phantom Works division, focusing on advanced research and development initiatives for defense and space applications. The successful candidate will hold an active Top Secret security clearance and bring extensive experience in software design, development, and project leadership. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that involve complex problem-solving, innovative solutions, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, along with significant professional experience. An active Top Secret U.S. security clearance is mandatory. Candidates should have at least five years of experience in software engineering, with proficiency in Java and/or C++ object-oriented programming. Experience leading software development projects for three or more years is preferred, along with familiarity with MATLAB for at least one year. Additional qualifications include strong communication skills, a customer-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively within Agile development processes. Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems, as well as experience with DevSecOps practices such as version control, continuous integration, and containerization, will be advantageous. Candidates with a comprehensive understanding of physics-based modeling software, flight dynamics, sensors, electromagnetics, and related fields are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning and execution of software development tasks, including detailed design, coding, and comprehensive testing to ensure features meet acceptance criteria.

Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements, translating system-level needs into detailed software specifications that are traceable from design through testing.

Perform system-level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities, and lead efforts to deploy mitigation strategies throughout the software lifecycle.

Conduct and oversee code reviews to ensure alignment with requirements, standards, and best practices.

Monitor testing activities, verify completion, and coordinate issue resolution to maintain high-quality software deliverables.

Review product and process documentation for compliance with project plans and industry standards, tracking performance metrics of internal teams and suppliers.

Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting best practices in software development.

Interface with various programming languages and development tools to ensure seamless integration and functionality of software components.
