About The Role
We are seeking a talented Java Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic Investment Experience Technology team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our next-generation investment services platform. As part of a startup-minded, agile environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement scalable, high-quality software solutions. Your work will directly enhance the digital experiences of our members and financial advisors, empowering them with seamless, intelligent tools for investment management.
This position involves working with a modern technology stack, including Go, Java, APIs, OpenShift, and other USAA technologies. The role requires a flexible work environment, with a hybrid model of in-office presence four days a week. Locations include San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Charlotte, NC. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement can substitute for a degree). Approved certifications from recognized coding bootcamps or training programs are also acceptable.
Minimum of four years of extensive software development experience demonstrating deep technical expertise in relevant disciplines or technologies.
At least two years of experience delivering end-to-end technology solutions, including leading code and design reviews throughout the software development lifecycle.
Basic understanding of programming languages and technologies such as Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python.
Strong analytical skills with developing business acumen in operations, risk management, and industry trends.
Experience troubleshooting production issues and supporting system stability and performance.
Familiarity with cloud technologies and tools, including container orchestration platforms like OpenShift and cloud platforms such as AWS.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions aligned with business requirements and technical standards.
Investigate and resolve complex application and system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Conduct comprehensive systems analysis to identify operational improvements and recommend policy or procedural changes.
Prepare and implement complex solutions by defining system specifications, standards, and programming requirements.
Adhere to the software development lifecycle, including participating in design reviews and code quality assessments.
Mentor junior engineers and review peer contributions to maintain high-quality code standards.
Ensure compliance with risk and regulatory policies by effectively identifying, measuring, and monitoring associated risks.
