About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team at LexisNexis. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, leading the design, development, and deployment of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the company's data science capabilities, particularly in enhancing the quality of data sources that support our end-user products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and product leaders, to translate complex data into actionable insights and innovative AI-driven solutions. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members, ensuring best practices are followed and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, coupled with 7-10 years of relevant work experience or a PhD with at least 6 years of experience. Extensive experience working directly with large language models (LLMs) and transformer-based architectures such as BERT, RoBERTa, T5, and others is essential. Proficiency in big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or cloud platforms such as AWS is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience with LLMs including ChatGPT, GPT-3.5, Claude, Mistral, and similar models. Strong programming skills in Python, R, or equivalent languages are necessary for data analysis and model development. The candidate must demonstrate a robust understanding of machine learning algorithms, including deep learning, gradient boosting, and random forests. Excellent problem-solving abilities, leadership skills, and the capability to mentor junior data scientists are crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to design, develop, and deploy innovative AI solutions that address complex business challenges.

Lead the development of advanced AI and machine learning models, ensuring their effectiveness and scalability.

Analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights that inform AI development and strategic decision-making.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure AI solutions align with business objectives and meet customer needs.

Evaluate existing frameworks, define new methodologies, and establish governance standards for AI and data science projects.

Mentor and guide junior data scientists, fostering best practices in AI and machine learning techniques.

Partner with product teams and stakeholders to translate data science insights into impactful product features and enhancements.

Lead small to medium-sized project teams, managing deliverables, timelines, and stakeholder expectations effectively.
