## About the Role
Mento is seeking a **senior, product-minded Software Engineer with AI and data experience** to help build a differentiated AI and software coaching product, as well as AI- and software-based tools that augment human coaches. You will work closely with a small engineering team, design, and coaching to create compelling product experiences that bring the power of coaching to life through software.
This is a product-focused role at an early-stage, remote-first company. You will build 0-to-1 features, design AI-enabled capabilities on top of foundational models, translate coaching workflows into AI agents, and develop scalable data pipelines and integrations. The role is suited to an experienced engineer who has shipped data-related products to real users, is comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration, and is excited about applying AI to real-world products.

## Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship product features and experiences from **0-to-1** with an emphasis on iterative product development.
- Make thoughtful technical trade-offs and take appropriate risks in an early-stage product environment.
- Design AI-enabled application capabilities built on foundational models for adaptability, reuse, and scalability.
- Work with coaching experts to translate coaching insights and workflows into high-quality **AI agents** and product experiences.
- Build scalable, reusable pipelines and integrations to import and export data into the product.
- Design and develop integrations with a broad ecosystem of productivity and learning and development tools.
- Share expertise and best practices in **data and AI** through peer mentorship, code reviews, lunch-and-learns, and other team activities.
- Work with Mento's technology stack, including **Go, TypeScript, and Ruby**, while experimenting with other languages where appropriate within service boundaries.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and coaching teams.
## Required Qualifications
- Experienced **software engineer** who has shipped **data-related products into production with real users**.
- Experience working with **dynamic programming languages**.
- Experience building **server-side web applications**.
- Understanding of core **data engineering** and **software architecture** concepts for modern data-based applications.
- Experience integrating AI into software products or a strong practical understanding of AI-enabled application development.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, early-stage environment with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities.
- Experience productively integrating **LLM-based coding tools** into your software development workflow.
## Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building early-stage products from **0-to-1**.
- Experience with **event-driven architectures**.
- Experience with traditional web stacks such as **Ruby on Rails or Laravel**.
- Experience designing **search indexes**.
- Experience designing and building **data pipelines**.
