- About the Role
Greenlight is seeking a Software Engineer II, Frontend with a strong background in web development to join its Web Platform and Family Hub team.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing modern web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and related frontend technologies. This role goes beyond application development, with opportunities to contribute to deployment, operations, technical strategy, and the broader software development lifecycle.
You will help translate mobile experiences to the web, create world-class user experiences, contribute to the technical direction of the web platform, and work closely with engineering teams to build scalable and maintainable products.
This role reports to the Director, Engineering.
- Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of innovative web experiences that translate mobile product capabilities to the web.
Develop high-quality, responsive web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern frontend technologies.
Contribute to the technical strategy and long-term vision of the Web Platform and Family Hub.
Define and promote engineering standards, development best practices, and code-quality practices.
Participate in application deployment and operational phases of the software development lifecycle.
Drive architectural improvements and support the evolution of the web platform.
Identify, manage, and reduce technical debt.
Mentor engineers and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
Build and maintain automated tests using technologies such as Cypress, React Testing Library, and Jest.
Work with modern build and development tools such as Turborepo.
Collaborate with backend and infrastructure teams working with Node.js, Express, REST APIs, AWS, and TypeScript/Kotlin.
Contribute to CI/CD processes and reliable software delivery.
Help establish scalable, maintainable, and high-quality frontend architecture.
- Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
3+ years of software development experience with a demonstrated track record of technical leadership.
Strong expertise in React and Next.js.
Experience with Remix or comparable modern web application frameworks.
Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend development practices.
Experience with modern build tools and frontend development workflows.
Experience with automated testing and frameworks such as Cypress, React Testing Library, or Jest.
Experience with CI/CD practices.
Understanding of application design, development, deployment, and operational phases of the SDLC.
Strong technical problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
Experience contributing to technical strategy and defining engineering standards.
Experience mentoring software engineers.
Experience with Tailwind CSS.
Experience with Turborepo or similar modern build and monorepo tooling.
Familiarity with Node.js, Express, REST APIs, AWS, and Kotlin.
Experience managing technical debt and leading architectural evolution.
Experience building consumer-facing web applications and translating mobile experiences to web platforms.
Strong interest in delivering polished, accessible, and high-quality user experiences.

Compensation: Greenlight uses a market-based compensation approach, with pay varying according to location, experience, and skill set. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance bonus, equity rewards, medical benefits, and 401(k) matching.
The provided estimated base pay ranges are:
New York, California, Washington: $122,000–$170,000
Colorado: $122,000–$145,000
