About The Role

As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative software solutions that address complex challenges within the semiconductor manufacturing process. You will work on designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software components for our advanced equipment, including control systems for devices such as robots, motors, pumps, and sensors. Your role involves creating algorithms to optimize material deposition and removal at atomic levels, designing user interfaces, and implementing data collection, storage, and analysis systems. You will also leverage machine learning and analytics to enhance system performance, ensure security through remote access protocols, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our software solutions. Collaborating closely with internal teams and customers, you will translate requirements into functional software, troubleshoot issues, and document processes to uphold our standards of quality and innovation. Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 1+ years of professional experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.

Proficiency and professional experience in C and C++ programming languages.

Experience in real-time control systems, motion control, embedded programming, multi-threading, and CAN Bus communication.

Familiarity with C#, .NET, Visual Studio, MATLAB, and related development tools.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex technical problems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Design and develop software code for complex control systems and applications.

Troubleshoot and resolve challenging software issues, implementing bug fixes and improvements.

Design and prototype user interfaces to ensure usability and functionality.

Create detailed software specifications and documentation.

Develop and execute test plans for simulators, test benches, and laboratory setups.

Collaborate with internal teams and customers to gather requirements, analyze issues, and plan project timelines.

Develop algorithms to optimize atomic-scale material processes and enhance system performance.

Maintain and improve existing software solutions, ensuring robustness and scalability.

Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous learning initiatives.
