About Cleerly

We're Cleerly - a healthcare company that's revolutionizing how heart disease is diagnosed, treated, and tracked. We were founded in 2017 by one of the world's leading cardiologists and are a growing team of world-class engineering, operations, medical affairs, marketing, and sales leaders. We raised $223M in Series C funding in 2022 which has enabled rapid growth and continued support of our mission. In December 2024, we received an additional $106M in a Series C extension funding. Most of our teams work remotely and have access to our offices in Denver, Colorado, New York, New York, Dallas, Texas, and Lisbon, Portugal, with some roles requiring on-site presence.

Cleerly has pioneered a new standard of care for heart disease through value-based, AI-driven precision diagnostic solutions aimed at preventing heart attacks. Our technology surpasses traditional measures by enabling comprehensive quantification and characterization of atherosclerosis, or plaque buildup, in each coronary artery. Supported by over a decade of clinical trials, our solutions identify risk factors beyond symptoms that can lead to heart attacks, thereby transforming cardiovascular care.

Our collaborative culture is rooted in digital communication, utilizing systems such as Google Workspace, Slack, Confluence/Jira, and Zoom. While most of our workforce operates remotely, periodic travel for team meetings and cross-functional projects is expected, with some roles requiring up to 90% travel, especially in sales or external-facing positions.

At Cleerly, we are committed to developing safe, effective medical software that adheres to all regulatory standards. Our quality management framework emphasizes continuous improvement, risk management, and compliance throughout the software lifecycle, which is vital to achieving our mission and ensuring patient safety.

About The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our team and take ownership of core components of Cleerly's clinical platform. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that spans both frontend and backend development. You will work across the entire technology stack, from developing React/TypeScript interfaces used by clinicians to building robust Python and Java services and managing AWS infrastructure that powers our platform.

Our platform connects seamlessly with hospital systems, processes cardiac CT scans through our FDA-cleared AI, and delivers detailed clinical results to cardiologists and healthcare providers. You will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of significant parts of this pipeline, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance with healthcare regulations. We value candidates who are comfortable working across the full stack, whether their expertise leans more toward frontend or backend development, as long as they demonstrate technical depth and ownership skills.

This role requires a proactive individual who writes production-quality code, troubleshoots live systems, and takes personal responsibility for the components they develop. Collaboration with clinical stakeholders and cross-functional teams is essential to design intuitive, high-usability interfaces and reliable backend services that directly impact patient care.

Qualifications

8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrable expertise across the full technology stack

Proficiency in React and TypeScript, with experience owning complex production interfaces

Strong backend development skills in Python or Java, including building and maintaining production services

Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS, and CloudWatch

Solid understanding of API design, integration, and data integrity management

Experience working in healthcare or regulated high-stakes software environments

Robust testing discipline, with focus on error handling, edge cases, and latency considerations

Ability to operate independently, make architectural decisions, and own platform components

Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7 is a plus

Experience with medical imaging data handling, DICOM standards, or clinical workflows is advantageous

Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker, Kubernetes, or infrastructure as code (Terraform) is desirable

Experience with AI/ML integration or deploying models into production is a plus

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain React/TypeScript interfaces used by clinicians for case review, result interpretation, and report finalization

Design intuitive, high-usability clinical interfaces capable of handling complex, multi-source data with rigorous edge-case management

Implement workflow features such as case status tracking, review queues, exception handling, editing, and sign-off processes

Build secure viewer launch flows, including embedded HTML5 viewers, deep links, or SDK integrations

Design, develop, and own backend services in Python or Java, including REST APIs, data processing pipelines, and integration layers

Create scalable, maintainable data models and API contracts supporting platform growth

Ensure compliance with PHI protection, audit requirements, and data integrity standards across all services

Contribute to platform reliability through observability, monitoring, error handling, and performance tuning

Build and operate cloud-native services on AWS, including CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure management

Collaborate with clinical teams to integrate clinical workflows, EHR systems (FHIR, HL7), and third-party clinical tools

Participate in technical decision-making, code reviews, and mentorship to foster a high-performance engineering culture

Support regulated software delivery with requirements traceability, validation, and change impact analysis
