About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Java Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic Investment Experience Technology team within USAA's Technology group. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing innovative, scalable solutions for our investment services platform. Working in an agile, fast-paced environment, you will collaborate with a talented team to deliver high-quality software that enhances digital experiences for our members and financial advisors. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies such as Go, Java, APIs, and OpenShift, contributing to the development of next-generation investment solutions. The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement, technical excellence, and a passion for delivering impactful financial technology solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Approved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT, or eFIT (Veterans for IT/Employees for IT) is acceptable.
Minimum of 4 years of software development experience demonstrating deep technical understanding within specific disciplines or technologies.
At least 2 years of experience delivering full lifecycle technology solutions, including leading code and design reviews.
Basic understanding of programming languages such as Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python.
Experience supporting production issues through troubleshooting applications and systems.
Knowledge of cloud technologies and tools, with hands-on experience preferred.
Strong communication skills to articulate technical challenges and solutions effectively.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions aligned with project requirements and standards.
Investigate and resolve complex application and system issues, including troubleshooting and debugging production problems.
Conduct systems analysis to identify operational improvements and recommend policy or procedural changes.
Prepare and install complex solutions by defining system specifications, standards, and programming requirements.
Adhere to the software development lifecycle, ensuring quality and compliance throughout all phases.
Participate in design reviews, learning and applying key system design principles.
Mentor junior engineers and review code contributions from team members to ensure best practices.
Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities in compliance with policies and regulations.
