Staff Software Engineer, Finance Technology

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Finance Technology (Remote) to join the team of a leader in the Food & Beverages space.
This role will shape the architecture and technical direction of finance systems that support critical payment and payout operations.
You will lead complex, multi-quarter initiatives across engineering teams while partnering with senior leaders to define standards, improve quality, and strengthen system reliability.
The position calls for deep backend expertise, strong API design skills, and hands-on experience with payment service providers in a high-integrity environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $184,000 – $232,000 annually
Responsibilities
Own the architecture for the finance technology platform
Define APIs and contracts for finance technology services
Lead multi-quarter initiatives end-to-end
Ensure technical health and quality for financial systems
Evaluate and innovate with emerging finance technology tools
Collaborate with senior leaders to establish shared standards
Mentor and guide technical teams through design and code reviews
Qualifications
8+ years of experience building backend services
4+ years of development experience with Go
Proven record of leading multi-quarter, multi-team initiatives
Deep understanding of payment-processing and payout systems
Hands-on integration experience with modern payment service providers
Experience scaling high-integrity systems with strict correctness and security
Strong skills in API design and service boundaries
Ability to communicate effectively about system design and technical tradeoffs
