Senior Staff Data Scientist
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Senior Staff Data Scientist to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.
This role will focus on building advanced detection and evaluation capabilities that help protect AI-enabled experiences and improve trust, safety, and platform integrity. You will partner closely with Security, Product, and Engineering teams to identify abuse patterns, reduce false positives, and translate complex behavioral data into practical production guidance. The position also offers the opportunity to mentor peers, shape technical approaches, and influence prevention strategies across the organization.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually
Responsibilities
Run and develop the AI security evaluation platform for testing AI features
Analyze behavioral and user interaction data to identify abuse patterns and automate methodologies
Develop detection models using offline data to provide engineering guidance in production
Improve spam detection accuracy while minimizing false positives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven prevention strategies
Stay current on emerging trends in AI security
Mentor and lead technical projects, providing guidance to peers
Partner with Security and Product teams to address emerging data challenges
Qualifications
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in ML/AI focused on fraud detection, anomaly detection, or security
Strong programming skills in SQL and Python, with proficiency in data processing frameworks
Fluency in AI-assisted programming tools to enhance workflows
Expertise in statistical, ML, and anomaly detection techniques, including experience with unbalanced datasets and sparsity
Experience working with large datasets and platforms such as Spark and Snowflake
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
