About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend | Audit Product Team to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space.

This role will focus on building scalable, secure backend systems that support complex customer-facing web applications within the healthcare claims and payments domain. The engineer will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to shape technical direction, improve user experiences, and balance new development with technical debt reduction. This position also includes mentoring teammates, strengthening engineering standards, and helping advance modern engineering practices across the team.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $200,000 – $230,000 annually

Responsibilities

Deepen understanding of the healthcare claims and payments domain

Act as a developer coach, mentoring and elevating the team’s programming standards

Serve as the backend voice in cross-team planning, ensuring cohesive execution

Contribute to the development of complex in-browser applications with a focus on scalability and security

Balance new feature development with technical debt management

Architect applications incorporating ML techniques to improve user experiences

Design integrated systems for reliable application performance

Promote and implement agentic engineering practices within the team

Qualifications

8+ years of backend programming experience; full-stack experience preferred

Proven track record in designing and shipping customer-facing web applications

Proficiency with Java or Scala; Rust experience is a plus

Experience with distributed systems on cloud services at scale

Ability to write clear Technical Design Documents for team collaboration

Strong focus on user-driven product development

Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with various stakeholders

Familiarity with agentic engineering tools in production environments

Problem-solving skills in a high-growth, high-stakes context
