Senior Software Engineer - SRE
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - SRE to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This role will focus on strengthening reliability across product teams by improving operational maturity, observability, and incident readiness. You will partner closely with engineers to define service-level objectives, review designs for resilience, and turn learnings from incidents into lasting process improvements. The position also requires hands-on work in the codebase and close collaboration with on-call responders to support a dependable customer experience.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $200,700 – $250,900 annually
Responsibilities
Embed within product teams to enhance operational maturity
Conduct regular game day exercises to improve incident preparedness
Dive into Haskell and TypeScript code to apply reliability techniques
Define and steer service-level objectives (SLOs) linked to customer outcomes
Review design documents and code for reliability best practices
Identify and address observability gaps impacting incident response
Support the on-call rotation to refine processes and learning from incidents
Qualifications
5-7 years of Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps experience
Proven track record of influencing reliability improvements in an organization
Strong expertise with PostgreSQL
Experience authoring and operating Temporal workflows
Familiarity with observability platforms such as Grafana or Honeycomb
Knowledge of OpenTelemetry
