Senior Software Engineer II (Data Pipelines)
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer II (Data Pipelines) to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space.
This role will serve as a technical owner for data pipeline automation and orchestration, with a strong focus on building reliable, scalable solutions that support analytics and business decision-making.
You will partner with cross-functional teams to improve data quality, streamline delivery, and strengthen the overall data engineering foundation.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with modern data stack tools and the ability to lead technical execution across a complex portfolio of data assets.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $155,000 – $180,000 annually
Responsibilities
Lead the automation and orchestration of data pipelines as a technical expert
Design and maintain scalable, reliable data solutions with an emphasis on automation
Manage and optimize a large portfolio of dbt models using advanced techniques
Promote test-driven development and support continuous integration processes
Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data pipeline performance
Architect reusable, scalable data solutions aligned with business needs
Document implementation plans, configurations, and deployments
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in software development, specializing in Python, SQL, and data pipelines
Expertise in ETL/ELT automation using Airflow; familiarity with Airbyte preferred
Proficiency in managing dbt models, including macros and tests
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and BigQuery, including query optimization
Experience with business intelligence tools, preferably Looker or similar
Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
Strong problem-solving skills and technical leadership experience
