For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.
This role will drive technical execution across full-stack development while helping shape architecture and engineering standards for a distributed team. The position blends hands-on Ruby on Rails and React development with thoughtful collaboration across product and business partners. You will also contribute to system performance, API design, and the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices. This is an opportunity to influence delivery, mentor peers, and help translate business needs into reliable technical solutions.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $120,000 – $180,000 annually
Responsibilities
Shape the technical direction of a squad with hands-on coding in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React
Write clean, maintainable code while mentoring through code reviews and pair programming
Design and optimize back-end systems and APIs with a focus on performance and reliability
Create responsive front-end experiences using React, TypeScript, and CSS
Manage relational databases and write efficient SQL to support business growth
Lead projects from start to finish, including risk management and clear communication
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
Leverage AI-assisted tools for engineering tasks and develop best practices for their use
Qualifications
7-10 years of full-stack development experience, emphasizing Ruby on Rails
5+ years of experience with React
Proven record of leading projects from conception to delivery
Passion for mentoring and guiding engineers
Fluency with AI development tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot
Experience with LLM APIs focusing on prompt design and safety
Strong project management and organizational skills
