Senior Software Engineer: Fleet Enablement & Insights (Map Validation & Annotation Platform)
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer: Fleet Enablement & Insights (Map Validation & Annotation Platform) to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.
This role will focus on building the backend services and web-based tools that support map validation, annotation, and simulation workflows for autonomous trucking operations. You will help shape the data pipelines, storage architecture, and high-performance visualization capabilities needed to ensure accurate, reliable information for critical vehicle and fleet workflows. The position will partner closely with cross-functional teams to align upstream data needs with downstream engineering requirements and deliver scalable systems that improve operational quality and performance.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $160,800 – $193,000 annually
Responsibilities
Architect and build backend services for map validation and simulation pipelines supporting autonomous trucking operations
Lead the development of scalable web-based annotation tools for data handling
Design data models and storage architecture to ensure integrity and performance
Create high-performance rendering systems for point cloud and image data using WebGL
Utilize AWS services to build and deploy reliable data pipelines and services
Make informed technical decisions regarding system and architecture design
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet upstream and downstream requirements
Qualifications
5+ years of experience building production backend services at scale
Expertise in Python for designing and shipping production-quality services
Proficiency in SQL for relational and analytical data management
Experience with web services and APIs, particularly in TypeScript and modern web frameworks
Familiarity with C++ or willingness to learn
Strong database and data-modeling skills in PostgreSQL or similar systems
Proactive ownership of the design and architecture of complex systems
