Principal ML Engineer - Embodied AI Scaling Foundations

For our client, we are seeking a Principal ML Engineer - Embodied AI Scaling Foundations to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.
This role will help shape the foundations for scaling advanced machine learning systems that improve model performance, safety, and real-world applicability. The position partners closely with cross-functional teams to move research ideas into production-ready solutions. It will also contribute to model distillation efforts, applied research, and the development of robust training pipelines in a highly technical environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually
Responsibilities
Design and implement technologies that align models with the organization's mission and technical goals
Apply advanced techniques to improve model performance and safety
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on model distillation integration
Conduct research and stay current on advancements in AI
Lead projects from ideation through deployment, documenting processes along the way
Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of knowledge sharing
Qualifications
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field
Experience with large-scale foundation models and alignment methods
Demonstrated ability to deliver applied research under tight deadlines
Proficiency in PyTorch and Python for ML applications
Experience building and scaling model training pipelines
Strong data processing skills using NumPy, Pandas, and Apache Spark
Excellent communication skills for collaboration across diverse teams
Experience deploying foundation models in production
