About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff AI Engineer (Data & Intelligence function) to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will focus on building production AI capabilities that help translate customer and system data into actionable intelligence. You will work across data, engineering, and product-oriented partners to design retrieval, inference, and workflow solutions that are reliable, cost-aware, and ready for real-world use.

The position is highly hands-on, with an emphasis on applying advanced AI/ML techniques, strong data foundations, and rigorous evaluation practices. It is also expected to help establish best practices that other teams can adopt as the organization expands its AI efforts.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually

Responsibilities

Write and deploy production AI code on a daily basis

Lead development of rapid customer context retrieval across multiple data processing strategies

Build the inference layer to process signals and provide actionable insights

Transform detected conditions into actionable workflows for user engagement

Select appropriate models for different workloads, balancing performance and cost

Oversee evaluation metrics for AI systems to ensure reliability before action

Establish best practices for other teams to follow in their AI work

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in production AI/ML systems

Strong programming fundamentals with proficiency in Python and other languages for AI and data work

Fluency in managing data at scale with advanced SQL and transformation tools like dbt

Experience in production-level retrieval and context engineering, including vector search and graph retrieval

Skill in building agentic systems with workflows informed by human interaction, using tools like Temporal and LangGraph

Expertise in evaluation and observability for AI systems, including tracing and dataset-driven testing

Cloud deployment skills, particularly with AWS and containerized services, managing inference costs
