About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff, Machine Learning Engineer - BEV/Multi-Modal Perception to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.

This role will shape advanced perception capabilities for autonomous vehicle systems, with a focus on bird’s-eye-view modeling and multi-modal sensor fusion. You will lead model development efforts that combine data from multiple sensing modalities to improve scene understanding, robustness, and reliability in complex driving environments. The position partners closely with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate performant ML solutions into a broader autonomous technology stack.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $215,500 – $258,600 annually

Responsibilities

Lead development of BEV-based perception models across multiple tasks

Design architectures that fuse data from cameras, LiDAR, radar, and HD maps

Develop foundational perception models using advanced techniques such as BEV transformers

Own large-scale training workflows, including data strategy and hyperparameter optimization

Improve model robustness in challenging conditions such as occlusions and low visibility

Establish evaluation frameworks for model performance and accuracy

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive model integration

Mentor ML engineers and promote best practices in experimentation and model validation

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in deep learning for perception, 3D vision, or autonomous systems

M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent practical experience

Proven expertise in BEV modeling and multi-view fusion

Strong background in multi-modal sensor fusion, especially camera and LiDAR integration

Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow

Experience with large-scale data pipelines and distributed training

Demonstrated leadership in ML model innovation and team mentoring
