Lead Software Engineer - Infrastructure
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Lead Software Engineer - Infrastructure to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.
This role will lead infrastructure engineering efforts that support a distributed, containerized development environment and reliable cloud-based systems. The ideal candidate will partner closely with engineering peers to improve automation, streamline operations, and strengthen platform stability. You will also help shape roadmap initiatives, document technical architecture, and mentor others across a collaborative, multi-location team.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $149,000 – $228,000 annually
Responsibilities
Maintain and optimize the containerized development environment
Manage cloud VMs in Google Cloud Platform
Automate manual and repetitive processes to improve efficiency
Ensure VMs are kept up to date
Document technical architectures and user features for clarity
Educate fellow engineers on tools and process improvements
Collaborate with the team to shape and define roadmap initiatives
Qualifications
At least 7 years of experience as an Infrastructure or Software Engineer
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Knowledge of configuration management systems, specifically Puppet
Strong Linux systems administration skills with scripting capabilities in Ruby and Bash
Understanding of modern programming principles and best practices
Excellent communication skills for working with distributed teams
Eagerness to explore new languages and technologies
