About the role

Senior Software Engineer - Healthcare Billing Automation

Location: On-site, New York, NY or San Francisco, CA (4 days/week in-office)

Salary: $210K – $250K + competitive equity

Sponsorship: US citizens, Green Card holders, E-3, or TN visa holders only. No new H-1B or other visa sponsorship.

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer at a fast-growing, well-funded startup automating one of healthcare's most broken back-office processes, the process behind how medical providers actually get paid by insurers. You'll join a high-velocity engineering team owning large surface areas of product and infrastructure end-to-end, from architecture through production.

This is a full-stack role spanning Python, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and GCP, with real ownership over scalability and infrastructure as the platform scales with enterprise customers.

The problem you'd help solve:

Medical billing still runs on decades-old software and manual processes, with thousands of insurer-specific rules governing how a claim must be submitted correctly the first time. This team automates that process end-to-end, from claim submission through payment reconciliation, cutting out the manual work that currently props up the entire industry.

You'll design, build, and maintain complex services across the full stack; own features end-to-end, from architecture through production reliability; and lead scalability and infrastructure improvements as the platform scales with enterprise customers. You'll also contribute directly to engineering culture, running live coding interviews, mentoring, and shaping how the team builds.

You'll likely be a fit if you have:

8-14 years of experience in full-stack or backend software engineering, with proficiency in at least one modern language such as Python, TypeScript, or Go

A CS degree or similar technical background, strong CS fundamentals, and a track record of upward trajectory at fast-growing startups

Comfort writing production code independently, without relying on AI coding tools

Experience owning large technical surface areas end-to-end, from design through deployment

Nice to have:

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or GCP at scale

Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to hiring and technical culture

What you won't find here:

This role won't suit you if you want a narrow, well-scoped ticket queue, or a slower-paced, less demanding environment. This team moves fast and expects people who can operate with minimal direction.

Sponsorship: open to US citizens, Green Card holders, and E-3 or TN visa holders. No new H-1B or other visa sponsorship available. On-site, 4 days/week in-office.
