About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced BackEnd Software Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join our Model-Based Engineering (MBE) software team based in Berkeley, Missouri. This pivotal role focuses on developing and leading the creation of prototypes, web applications, and services that support Boeing Defense Services (BDS). As a key contributor, you will be responsible for designing APIs, developing data-processing pipelines, optimizing database queries, and establishing scalable, production-ready infrastructure. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background with a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or related fields. Candidates must have an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access. A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend software development using languages such as Java, Spring, Oracle SQL, SQL Server, Go, Python, or equivalent is required. Additionally, familiarity with Agile development processes, database technologies, and cloud platforms like AWS is essential. Preferred candidates will have over 9 years of related experience, experience with microservices, containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, and modern architectural styles such as event-driven and client-server architectures. Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills are highly valued, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Lead the architecture, development, documentation, and maintenance of efficient and innovative software processes, tools, and methodologies to streamline the software engineering lifecycle, including continuous integration and deployment of safety-critical software.
Provide technical oversight across various systems, guiding teams in designing and operating production-ready solutions that meet strict industry standards.
Evaluate emerging technologies and seek innovative solutions to address current and future challenges in aerospace software development.
Mentor and develop engineers at all levels by sharing knowledge, best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Manage projects from inception to completion with minimal supervision, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architectures for multiple web applications and expand infrastructure for multi-application communication, logging, alerts, authentication, and configuration management.
Create comprehensive test suites to verify system reliability, performance, and behavior under various conditions.
Engage in architectural discussions, influence technology roadmaps, and take ownership of key projects and initiatives.
Research and oversee the implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks relevant to software development and aerospace standards.
Oversee large-scale software systems' architecture, design, development, analysis, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with customer and industry requirements.
Partner with stakeholders to translate system requirements into software models, ensuring traceability from design to testing artifacts.
Conduct code reviews to ensure standards and requirements are met, fostering quality and consistency across projects.
Resolve complex technical issues, drive innovations to improve system availability, resilience, and performance, and ensure scalable solutions for large user bases.
