About The Role
The Boeing Company is seeking experienced and senior-level Real Time Software Engineers to join our Phantom Works program, a division dedicated to advanced research, rapid prototyping, and experimental projects in aerospace technology. These roles are based in Hazelwood, MO, Cambridge, MA, or Mesa, AZ, and focus on developing Vehicle Management System (VMS) software that plays a critical role in controlling flight and subsystems of innovative aerospace platforms. As part of our team, you will contribute to cutting-edge projects supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), working on systems that demand high reliability, safety, and performance.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related fields, with extensive experience in software development. U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Preferred candidates will have over 7 years of relevant experience, including expertise in real-time embedded systems, safety-critical software, and familiarity with aerospace standards. Additional qualifications include experience with C/C++, Python, VX Works or similar RTOS, and tools like Git. Active security clearance, knowledge of MIL-STD standards, and experience in agile development processes are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for complex software systems.
Design, implement, and integrate software components to create fully functional systems that meet specified requirements.
Create and execute verification and test plans, procedures, and environments, documenting results to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
Provide technical leadership within project teams, guiding development efforts and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
Support the development and maintenance of software processes, tools, and metrics to optimize development efficiency and quality.
Serve as a subject matter expert in software domains, addressing system-specific issues, regulatory compliance, and technical challenges.
Monitor and evaluate team progress to ensure project milestones, quality standards, and process adherence are achieved.
Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Work under general supervision, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative aerospace solutions.
