• About the Opportunity:

The Senior Software Engineer, Caper AI role focuses on designing and implementing software solutions that enhance retail store technologies and internal operations. The position contributes to operational efficiency and improved customer experiences by developing advanced AI-driven applications, data pipelines, and backend infrastructure that support scalable retail functions and real-time data processing.

• Responsibilities:

Develop high-quality web applications and AI systems integrating Large Language Models, Computer Vision, and multimodal technologies

Architect data pipelines and reverse ETL systems combining diverse retail data sources

Standardize API contracts for complex retail functions across various retailer systems

Lead architectural design of backend systems and distributed infrastructure to process large-scale data

Build frameworks and internal tools for automated testing, logging, and debugging

Lead cross-functional initiatives to unify development approaches and improve customer shopping experiences

Perform other duties as assigned

• Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

Minimum 5 years of experience in a related software engineering role

5 years experience with backend programming languages such as Java, Ruby, or Kotlin

5 years experience with frontend programming languages such as TypeScript, React, or Next.js

5 years experience with advanced AI systems including LLMs, Computer Vision, and multimodal technologies

5 years experience designing resilient backend systems and distributed infrastructure using workflow orchestration platforms

5 years experience working with backend APIs

5 years experience architecting data pipelines and ETL systems for real-time processing

5 years experience with monitoring and observability tools

• Pay Range and Compensation Package:

Base pay range for this role is $230,000 to $255,000 USD depending on permanent work location

Eligibility for new hire equity grants and annual refresh grants

Offers vary based on candidate experience and skills
