About The Role

The Lead Cloud Software Engineer at L3Harris plays a pivotal role in advancing our cloud-based solutions and infrastructure. This position involves leading the design, development, and deployment of cloud applications utilizing major cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, develop scalable microservices, and implement innovative cloud architectures that meet mission-critical needs. This role demands a strong understanding of cloud-native development, containerization, and DevOps practices to ensure high availability, security, and performance of enterprise systems. As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous process improvements, fostering an agile and collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 6-9 years of software development experience. Alternatively, a graduate degree with 4-7 years of experience, or 10-12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Proven experience in cloud software development, with a strong background in designing and deploying cloud-native applications.

Extensive knowledge of object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, and Python.

Hands-on experience with Java-based web services, application servers, and JavaScript frameworks like NodeJS or ReactJS.

Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including designing scalable data solutions.

Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including Git, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and Confluence.

Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) or equivalent certifications for other cloud providers are highly preferred.

Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash, with the ability to develop efficient, well-tested code.

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to verify design compliance and troubleshoot complex issues.

Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA public trust clearance is required.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and integration of cloud-based software applications within an Agile environment, ensuring alignment with mission requirements and business goals.

Develop and configure deployment environments to facilitate seamless integration between cloud and on-premises systems, ensuring end-to-end operational readiness.

Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to review system designs, provide accurate estimates, and identify potential risks or limitations.

Implement DevOps best practices to automate build, test, and deployment processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing time-to-market.

Provide operational support to ensure high availability, security, and performance of cloud applications, meeting all service level agreements.

Design, develop, and deploy microservices architectures in Kubernetes-based environments such as EKS or OpenShift, ensuring scalability and resilience.

Apply microservice architectural patterns and best practices to optimize system performance and maintainability.

Manage containerized workloads, databases, and object storage solutions within cloud environments, ensuring their security and reliability.

Mentor junior team members, promote best practices, and contribute to continuous process improvements across development and operations teams.
