About The Role
Boeing is seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer with an active Top Secret Security Clearance to join our Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) team in Berkeley, MO. This pivotal role supports Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) and involves leading software development initiatives focused on space-based effects for air domain missions. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying complex software solutions that meet stringent security and performance standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical excellence throughout the software lifecycle. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that have a significant impact on national security and space exploration efforts.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in engineering, computer science, or related fields, complemented by extensive professional experience. An active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate at least five years of software engineering experience, with proficiency in Java and/or C++ object-oriented programming. Leadership experience in managing software development projects for a minimum of three years is essential. Familiarity with MATLAB, DevSecOps practices, and Agile methodologies will be advantageous. Candidates must exhibit excellent communication skills, a customer-oriented mindset, and the ability to adapt to evolving technological environments. A comprehensive understanding of physics-based modeling software, flight dynamics, sensors, electromagnetics, or related domains is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of software development tasks, including detailed design, coding, and testing of features aligned with customer requirements and acceptance criteria.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements, translating them into software models and requirements that ensure traceability and compliance with operational standards.
Conduct system-level analyses to identify risks and opportunities, leading efforts to mitigate issues throughout the software lifecycle.
Perform code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, requirements, and best practices.
Oversee verification processes, monitor test completion, and resolve issues to ensure software quality and functionality.
Review product and process alignment with project plans and industry standards, tracking performance metrics internally and with suppliers.
Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Interface with various programming languages and development tools, supporting integration and deployment activities.
