Senior Autonomous Systems Software Engineer
About the role
Senior Autonomous Systems Software Engineer
Bay Area, CA — Full-Time, On-Site
Build the Software Operating Layer Behind Autonomous Fleets
Autzu is building the infrastructure and operating layer needed to support autonomous transportation at scale.
Our autonomous hubs will bring together vehicles, robots, chargers, sensors, infrastructure, edge compute, and cloud software into a coordinated operating environment.
We’re looking for a Senior Autonomous Systems Software Engineer to build the orchestration, data, and intelligence layer behind that system.
This software will understand what is happening across vehicles, robots, chargers, and hub infrastructure, determine what needs to happen next, and coordinate operations automatically.
About the Role
You’ll own core elements of Autzu’s hub and fleet operating software.
You’ll work across distributed systems, telemetry, real-time event processing, state management, scheduling, dispatch, APIs, data infrastructure, automation, analytics, and operational intelligence.
This is an ideal role for a strong software engineer who wants to build complex systems from scratch and see their software directly coordinate real-world autonomous operations.
What You’ll Do
Build hub and fleet orchestration software
Ingest and manage telemetry from vehicles, robots, chargers, and infrastructure
Develop real-time state-management systems
Build event-processing and event-driven architectures
Develop scheduling, dispatch, and automated operational workflows
Build APIs connecting vehicles, robots, hub infrastructure, and cloud services
Develop fault, alert, and recovery workflows
Build services for operational state and system coordination
Develop scalable microservices and distributed applications
Build data pipelines supporting analytics, optimization, and operational intelligence
Develop systems for human supervision and intervention
Explore AI agents and LLM-driven operational assistance
Deploy software across cloud and edge environments
Build observability, monitoring, logging, and reliability tooling
Work closely with the CTO, systems engineers, robotics engineers, and Physical AI team
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on autonmous technology
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Strong backend and distributed systems experience
Strong programming skills in Python, Go, C++, Java, or similar languages
Experience building production APIs using REST, gRPC, or similar technologies
Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
Experience with message queues, event processing, or streaming systems
Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
Experience building stateful production systems
Experience with containers and production cloud deployments
Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, and observability
Experience taking software from design through production
Ability to work full-time on-site in the Bay Area
Strong fit for a fast-moving startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Kafka or similar streaming platforms
Experience with time-series data and high-volume telemetry
Experience with Kubernetes
Experience deploying systems across cloud and edge environments
Experience with scheduling, dispatch, fleet operations, logistics, or orchestration platforms
Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, mobility, or industrial automation
Experience with analytics, optimization, or operations research
Experience building LLM agents or intelligent automation
Experience with NVIDIA NIM microservices
Experience with NeMo or Triton Inference Server
Experience with CUDA, TensorRT, or NGC
Experience deploying AI workloads to Jetson or IGX

About Autzu
Autzu is building the base layer for scaling Physical AI in mobility. As autonomous vehicles move from software breakthrough to real-world deployment, they will require a new class of infrastructure: high-utilization fleet hubs, charging networks, maintenance systems, operational intelligence, and autonomous-ready fleet orchestration. Autzu is designing that foundation — the physical and operational backbone that enables autonomous mobility to scale safely, efficiently, and globally.
