Location: Austin, TX preferred

Work Arrangement: Strong preference for candidates who can work onsite

Pay Rate: Up to $110/hour

Clearance: Must be able to support ITAR-controlled programs and qualify for a U.S. DoD security clearance

Travel: Domestic and international travel as project needs require

Position Overview

Our client, a leading provider of advanced test, measurement, and engineering solutions, is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support custom automated test-system development for aerospace, defense, and government customers.

This position will work on large-scale, turnkey engineering solutions that integrate commercial test and measurement products with customer-specific hardware and software requirements.

The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with customers, systems architects, electrical engineers, sales teams, engineering groups, external partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to define, design, develop, deploy, and sustain custom test solutions.

The primary technical focus is the development of LabVIEW and TestStand-based automated test applications, including instrument drivers, test sequences, system-level applications, and integration with a variety of test and measurement hardware.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop automated test software using LabVIEW and TestStand.

Develop instrument drivers, test sequences, and system-level test applications.

Integrate software with PXI-based and third-party test equipment.

Work closely with Systems Architects and Electrical Engineers to develop testable system architectures and implementation strategies.

Define software and system requirements for custom automated test solutions.

Develop and execute system test plans.

Verify developed tests for requirements coverage and compliance.

Manage technical milestones and participate in design, test, and deployment readiness reviews.

Troubleshoot complex software, hardware, instrumentation, and system-integration issues.

Interface directly with customers to understand technical requirements and resolve implementation challenges.

Provide software application handoff and technical support to customer engineering teams.

Develop technical documentation supporting software operation, maintenance, testing, and customer deployment.

Collaborate with internal engineering teams, customers, suppliers, alliance partners, and contract manufacturers.

Support deployment, integration, and sustainment of customer test systems.

Travel domestically and internationally when required to support project objectives.

Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required.

Ability to work on ITAR-controlled programs and qualify for a DoD security clearance.

Bachelor's degree in:

Computer Science

Computer Engineering

Electrical Engineering

or another related engineering discipline.

5+ years of experience developing automated test software using LabVIEW and TestStand.

Recent, hands-on LabVIEW and TestStand experience is required.

Experience developing automated test systems utilizing PXI chassis and instrumentation.

Experience integrating test equipment such as:

Analog I/O

Digital I/O

DMMs

Oscilloscopes

Switching and signal-routing systems

Data acquisition equipment

Power supplies

RF analyzers

RF power sensors

Knowledge of hardware communication interfaces including:

GPIB

USB

Ethernet

Serial communications

Experience with high-level programming languages such as:

LabVIEW

TestStand

C/C++

C#

Python

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and develop practical solutions.

Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects.

Ability to quickly learn new technologies, products, and systems.

Strong communication and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer architecture.

Experience reading, interpreting, or developing electrical schematics.

Windows and Linux development experience.

LabVIEW certification.

Additional development experience with Python, C#, C/C++, or similar languages.

Previous experience providing direct technical support to engineering customers.

Experience developing complex aerospace or defense automated test systems.

Experience working with RF instrumentation or RF test applications.

Experience with system-level hardware/software integration.
