Job Title: AI Engineer – GenAI / Agentic Development

Job Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid – 2 days/week onsite)

Employment Type: W2 Contract / Direct Contract (Self-Incorporated Candidates Only)

Duration: 12+ Months

Important: This opportunity is open to candidates who can work W2 Contract and can come hybrid onsite. The selected candidate must be able to work from the client office 2 days per week in San Francisco, CA.

Overview

We are looking for an experienced AI Engineer to build and deliver production-grade AI/ML and Generative AI solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience developing AI applications, leveraging AI coding assistants, and implementing modern agentic development workflows.

This role requires someone who can work across Python and TypeScript/React, navigate multiple codebases and technology stacks, and independently drive technical solutions from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI/ML and Generative AI applications.

Own AI engineering initiatives end-to-end, from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and optimization.

Leverage AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows to improve engineering productivity and accelerate development.

Develop full-stack applications using Python, TypeScript, and React.

Integrate emerging AI technologies and agentic capabilities into existing engineering workflows and applications.

Design and implement scalable solutions using microservice architecture and modern software design patterns.

Evaluate technical trade-offs and recommend appropriate architectures for AI-enabled applications.

Work across different codebases, technology stacks, and AI platforms while maintaining development efficiency and quality.

Collaborate with engineering, product, and other technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable AI solutions.

Mentor engineers and contribute to technical decisions, coding standards, and engineering best practices.

Demonstrate strong ownership, prioritization, and execution of delegated technical tasks.

Apply responsible AI principles related to bias, safety, reliability, and ethical AI development.

Participate in Agile development practices and utilize tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Communicate complex AI/ML concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2+ years focused on AI/ML or Generative AI applications.

Demonstrated experience delivering production AI systems with end-to-end ownership.

Expert-level experience with AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows.

Strong hands-on full-stack development experience with:

Python

TypeScript

React

Experience designing and developing microservices and understanding architectural patterns and trade-offs.

Ability to efficiently context-switch between different codebases, technology stacks, and AI platforms.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to independently prioritize and execute technical assignments.

Leadership mindset with experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Understanding of Responsible AI, including AI safety, bias, and ethical considerations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in the Retail industry.

Hands-on experience integrating emerging GenAI technologies into existing enterprise applications.

Experience building or integrating AI agents and agentic workflows.

Experience working with modern cloud-based AI platforms and services.

Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
