About the role

Job Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer – AWS GovCloud / DevOps to support the migration of a software development network to an AWS GovCloud-based environment. This role will focus on establishing and maintaining development environments, CI/CD pipelines, software build infrastructure, and supporting tools.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud, GitLab CI/CD, Bash scripting, Linux, Python, Nexus, and JFrog Artifactory. This position requires a self-motivated engineer who can work effectively in a highly collaborative development environment and communicate clearly with cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Support the migration of a software development network to an AWS GovCloud environment.

Design, configure, and maintain software development environments within AWS GovCloud.

Build, configure, and troubleshoot GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

Develop and maintain GitLab YAML pipeline configurations.

Automate development and build processes using Bash/Shell scripting and Python.

Support Linux-based software development environments and related infrastructure.

Manage software repositories and artifacts using Nexus and JFrog Artifactory.

Troubleshoot build, deployment, pipeline, and development-environment issues.

Collaborate daily with software engineers, developers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders.

Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting sessions, and occasional pair programming.

Contribute ideas for improving development processes, automation, reliability, and team productivity.

Work within Agile software development processes and established engineering practices.

Develop software estimates and provide technical input for development activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or another related technical discipline.

Strong hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud.

Expert-level experience with GitLab, including CI/CD pipelines and YAML.

Strong Bash/Shell scripting experience.

Hands-on experience with Nexus Repository.

Hands-on experience with JFrog Artifactory.

Proficiency in Python.

Strong experience working in Linux-based software development environments.

Experience with Git/source control and software development workflows.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.

Self-starter with the ability to learn new technologies and development processes quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with C++11.

Experience with CMake.

Object-oriented software development experience.

Experience with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Advanced GitLab pipeline troubleshooting experience.

Experience with Ada development and software testing.

Experience with Green Hills compiler for Ada.

Experience with AUnit for Ada unit testing.

Experience with GNATMAKE.

Experience with VectorCAST.

Experience with CppUnit.

Experience with GCOV/GCOVR.

Experience working with software development processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Software Engineer / DevOps Engineer who combines software development expertise with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD experience. Candidates should be comfortable working across AWS GovCloud, GitLab, Linux, Bash, Python, artifact repositories, and software build environments.

Experience migrating development environments or networks into AWS GovCloud and troubleshooting complex GitLab CI/CD pipelines will be highly valued.
