## About the Role

Lumenalta is seeking experienced AI Engineers to support a high-growth fintech initiative focused on back-office workflow automation. This role offers an opportunity to design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI systems for organizations in banking, mortgage, and insurance.

The AI Engineer will work on intelligent automation solutions involving AI models, Python backend services, enterprise data pipelines, document processing, and workflow orchestration. The role also involves collaborating with engineering leadership to influence architecture and technology decisions while ensuring solutions are designed with regulatory and compliance requirements in mind.

This is a fully remote position. Candidates must be located in regions aligned with Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones.

## Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI and machine learning models into production environments.
• Develop and maintain backend services using Python to support intelligent automation workflows.
• Build enterprise-scale data pipelines for financial and regulatory document ingestion and processing.
• Implement automated data quality checks, monitoring, and validation processes.
• Train and optimize AI and machine learning models using banking rules, compliance requirements, and regulatory datasets.
• Develop intelligent routing systems that automate straightforward cases while escalating complex cases to human teams.
• Build solutions for enterprise use cases such as workflow automation, RAG pipelines, intelligent document processing, and conversational applications.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership on architecture, technology stack, and delivery decisions.
• Contribute to scalable, reliable, and maintainable AI system architecture.
• Ensure regulatory and compliance considerations are incorporated into AI product development.
• Work effectively with a lean, high-performing technical team.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt appropriate technologies to improve AI solutions and engineering workflows.

## Required Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering.
• Proven experience deploying AI or machine learning solutions into production environments.
• Strong backend development experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-Learn.
• Experience developing and maintaining production-grade AI systems.
• Strong understanding of data processing and enterprise data pipelines.
• Experience working with AI-driven applications, workflow automation, RAG pipelines, intelligent document processing, or similar solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

## Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modern data pipeline technologies such as Airflow, Spark, or Kafka.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as n8n or LangGraph.
• Experience working with financial services, insurance, banking, mortgage, or other regulated industries.
• Understanding of compliance-focused AI development.
• Experience working with regulatory or financial datasets.
• Experience with distributed or cloud-based systems.
• Familiarity with startup-style environments and rapidly evolving technology stacks.
• Experience influencing technical architecture and engineering decisions.

## Work Environment

This is a 100% remote position requiring a comfortable and productive home-office setup. The role requires a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Candidates should be located in regions that align with Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones to support effective collaboration with clients and team members.

## Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $50,000 to $120,000 annually. Final compensation will depend on qualifications, technical expertise, professional experience, and the scope of the role.
