Silverthorne Advisory Group LLC is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to support AI-enabled solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) and federal clients.

## About the Role

The Machine Learning Engineer will design, develop, train, test, deploy, and maintain machine learning models that process large and complex datasets.

The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering skills with expertise in machine learning and natural language processing. You will help define technical approaches, optimize algorithms, develop scalable ML infrastructure, and collaborate with clients and technical teams to solve complex problems.

This role provides an opportunity to work with advanced technologies and contribute to solutions supporting DoD and federal missions.

## Responsibilities

• Develop scalable and automated processes for large-scale data analysis.
• Design, develop, validate, deploy, and maintain machine learning models.
• Optimize machine learning algorithms for performance and accuracy.
• Contribute to infrastructure supporting end-to-end machine learning workflows.
• Develop and implement deep learning solutions using frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Apply machine learning and statistical techniques to complex datasets.
• Develop solutions involving natural language processing and text analytics.
• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to improve data processing pipelines.
• Work with solutions architects and product owners to define technical approaches.
• Explore emerging technologies, including quantum engineering, for advanced model development.
• Participate in software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, code reviews, and deployment.
• Implement regression testing and CI/CD processes for ML applications.
• Communicate technical concepts and project progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance to teammates and contribute to solution architecture.
• Analyze client requirements and translate business and mission needs into effective ML solutions.

## Required Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance is required; sponsorship may be available.
• 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience.
• Experience with coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• 4+ years of experience with natural language processing (NLP).
• Experience with NLP concepts such as:

• Tagging
• Syntactic parsing
• Word sense disambiguation
• Topic modeling
• Contextual text mining
• Deep learning applications for NLP
• Strong programming experience with Python, Java, or another modern programming language.
• Experience with numerical and analytics libraries such as NumPy and Pandas.
• Proficiency with Git and modern source control workflows.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of regression testing and automated software testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to quickly understand complex technical concepts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

## Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community (IC) programs.
• Experience developing distributed deep learning libraries.
• Experience scaling distributed deep learning workloads using PyTorch or similar frameworks.
• Background in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics, or NLP.
• Experience building large-scale AI/ML infrastructure.
• Experience with AWS machine learning services, including Amazon SageMaker.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Familiarity with advanced computing or emerging AI technologies.
