About The Role

The Senior Operations Research Scientist role at McKesson is a strategic position within the Enterprise Data Science Team, primarily focused on enhancing supply chain efficiency through advanced analytical solutions. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing simulation and optimization models to address complex business challenges across inventory management, transportation, and network planning. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in data science, operations research, and statistical modeling to drive innovation and improve decision-making processes across the organization.

As part of this role, you will work on strategic initiatives such as inventory optimization, transportation modeling, and network design. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations, ensuring that solutions are aligned with business objectives. Your work will directly influence McKesson’s ability to deliver cost-effective, efficient, and resilient supply chain operations, ultimately contributing to better healthcare delivery.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in operations research, data science, or a related field. A degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Engineering is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong foundation in probability, statistics, and machine learning techniques, along with hands-on experience in developing stochastic process simulations and optimization models. Proficiency in SQL for data wrangling, as well as experience with statistical programming languages such as Python and R, is essential. The ability to communicate complex analytical results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences is also critical.

Architect, develop, and implement simulation and optimization frameworks to support decision-making in supply chain areas including inventory, transportation, and labor planning.

Create digital twins and other simulation models to evaluate supply chain scenarios and identify opportunities for operational improvements.

Translate complex simulation and optimization outputs into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for business partners.

Drive adoption of analytical solutions across teams by developing user-friendly dashboards, applications, or decision support tools.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and tailor analytical models accordingly.

Continuously evaluate and improve existing models and solutions to enhance their accuracy and impact.

Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in operations research, data science, and supply chain management.

Support strategic initiatives with data-driven insights to optimize costs and improve service levels.

The base pay range for this position is $136,300 to $227,100, determined by experience, skills, and performance.
