About The Role
The Software Certification Engineer role at Boeing is a critical position within our Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) organization. This position involves leading and supporting the certification process for aerospace software systems, ensuring compliance with rigorous safety and regulatory standards set by authorities such as the FAA, DoD, and NASA. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and certifying aircraft software that meets the highest safety standards, contributing to the integrity and reliability of Boeing's aerospace products. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related fields, along with extensive experience in software engineering and certification processes. Candidates should have a minimum of 9 years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years working with software development life cycles, configuration management, and agile practices. Experience applying RTCA DO-178 standards and familiarity with aerospace certification requirements are essential. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, leadership experience in software projects, and recent roles involving DoD or NASA certification processes. Strong analytical skills, proficiency with version control tools like Git, and experience with Agile planning tools such as JIRA are highly desirable.

Collaborate closely with Certification Authorities (FAA, DoD, NASA) to navigate complex certification processes, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Develop and implement engineering strategies that emphasize safety, reliability, and quality, aligning with Boeing's high standards.
Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of comprehensive technical certification documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness to facilitate certification approval.
Mentor and develop engineering staff, instilling a thorough understanding of safety protocols, certification artifacts, and process requirements to enhance team expertise.
Analyze complex engineering challenges related to software safety and certification, leveraging data-driven approaches and industry best practices to develop effective solutions.
Monitor project progress, ensuring timely delivery of engineering solutions that meet all safety, certification, and performance milestones.
