About The Role

We are seeking an AI Developer to join our Technology division, a team dedicated to harnessing innovation to build the capabilities that drive our firm forward. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting practical AI-enabled solutions across various enterprise use cases. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, data, platform, security, and business stakeholders—to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable, and impactful solutions. The position emphasizes responsible AI delivery, ensuring that all solutions adhere to security, governance, and ethical standards. As an AI Developer at Morgan Stanley, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge Generative AI applications, leveraging large language models, prompt engineering, and data integration techniques to enhance automation, decision-making, and productivity across the organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Proven experience in software development, particularly with Python, and familiarity with additional programming languages is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including SDLC processes, source control, automated testing, and code review standards. Experience with Large Language Models, Generative AI concepts, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted development tools is highly desirable. Knowledge of building or integrating APIs, backend services, data pipelines, or enterprise applications is required. An understanding of secure development practices, data privacy, risk management, and governance considerations for enterprise AI solutions is critical. Familiarity with retrieval augmented generation, vector search, agentic AI patterns, or AI orchestration frameworks will be considered advantageous. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot independently are essential. Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders are also important. Prior experience in financial services, cybersecurity, data analytics, cloud platforms, or enterprise AI platforms is beneficial but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

The AI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining AI-powered applications, agents, and workflow automations using approved firm platforms and services. Key responsibilities include building Generative AI solutions utilizing large language models, prompt design, retrieval-based patterns, and enterprise data sources. The role involves developing Python services, APIs, integrations, and reusable components to support various AI use cases. The developer will participate in the full software delivery lifecycle—covering design, coding, testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing support. Collaboration with stakeholders across different teams is vital to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions that meet organizational standards. The role also involves evaluating AI outputs to improve quality, reliability, usability, and operational performance. Supporting secure engineering practices, governance reviews, monitoring, risk controls, and operational readiness for AI-enabled applications are integral aspects of the role. Additionally, the developer will identify opportunities to responsibly use AI to streamline processes, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance productivity for developers and end-users alike.
