About The Role

As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you will be at the forefront of technological innovation, working on groundbreaking projects involving machine learning, artificial intelligence, and real-time control systems. Your primary responsibility will be designing, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and functionality. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and clients to understand requirements, develop prototypes, and implement software solutions that optimize manufacturing processes at the atomic level. Your expertise will contribute to the development of control systems that manage complex hardware such as robots, motors, pumps, sensors, and more, ensuring precise control and data analysis for advanced material deposition and removal processes.

In this role, you will also be responsible for creating comprehensive software documentation, developing test plans for simulators and lab setups, and troubleshooting intricate software issues. Your work will directly impact the efficiency, accuracy, and innovation of our manufacturing solutions, helping Applied Materials maintain its leadership position in the semiconductor and display sectors. Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 1+ years of professional experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience

Proficiency and professional experience in C and C++ programming languages

Experience in real-time control systems, motion control, embedded programming, and multi-threading

Knowledge of CAN Bus, C#, .NET, Visual Studio, and MATLAB is preferred

Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex software problems

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus within cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

Design and develop code for complex software projects related to semiconductor equipment control systems

Troubleshoot and resolve challenging software issues, implementing bug fixes as needed

Design and prototype user interfaces to enhance user experience and operational efficiency

Create detailed software specifications and development plans

Develop and execute test plans for simulators, test benches, and laboratory environments

Generate comprehensive software documentation to facilitate maintenance and future development

Engage with internal and external stakeholders to analyze requirements, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate project schedules
