Backend Engineer

A Backend Engineer opportunity supporting an asset management technology team, building scalable services and data pipelines for portfolio analytics, accounting, fund reporting, FP&A, and middle-office workflows. The role combines hands-on engineering with close business partnership and exposure to financial markets.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and enhance backend applications and services that support critical middle-office and investment operations.
Develop data pipelines and technical solutions supporting accounting, portfolio analytics, fund performance reporting, FP&A, and related functions.
Write maintainable, efficient code using modern engineering practices, automated testing, version control, and continuous integration.
Evaluate existing workflows, identify opportunities for automation, and develop solutions that improve operational efficiency.
Partner directly with business stakeholders to clarify requirements, translate needs into technical solutions, and communicate progress transparently.
Collaborate with developers, product partners, and broader technology teams through code reviews, shared codebases, and coordinated production deployments.
Maintain clear technical documentation covering solution designs, issue resolution, vulnerability remediation, and development processes.
Build knowledge of financial markets and business operations while exploring emerging technologies, including practical applications of AI in software development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional programming experience.
Experience with modern software development frameworks, relational databases, design patterns, and CI/CD practices across on-premises or cloud environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work proactively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with backend technologies such as C#/.NET or Python; exposure to frameworks including ASP.NET Core, FastAPI, Entity Framework Core, SQLAlchemy, or comparable tools is valuable.
Familiarity with technologies such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Bitbucket, or similar development and infrastructure platforms.
Curiosity, initiative, and structured problem-solving skills; financial markets knowledge and an interest in applying AI to engineering workflows are welcomed.
