Staff Software Engineer, Foundations

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Foundations to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.
This role will focus on building and evolving core platform capabilities that support reliable, scalable internal and customer-facing systems. You will partner closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to guide technical strategy, modernize data infrastructure, and strengthen system performance and integrity. The position requires deep experience with distributed systems, streaming infrastructure, and data modeling at scale. You will also mentor senior engineers and help drive technical excellence across the organization.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually
Responsibilities
Lead migration from MongoDB to schema-aware Postgres while ensuring API compatibility
Collaborate across teams to drive reliance on the platform built by your team
Design systems for correctness under eventual consistency and idempotency
Architect high-throughput data ingestion and pipeline systems
Transform an internal query API into a robust production platform
Ensure the integrity of data infrastructure for external audits
Diagnose and troubleshoot production data challenges
Guide architectural strategies for streaming and persistent data storage
Mentor senior engineers and enhance technical excellence
Innovate with AI tools to optimize workflows
Qualifications
Proven experience leading platform migration initiatives while maintaining system availability
Strong knowledge of streaming and queuing infrastructure, especially Kafka
Extensive experience with distributed systems and enterprise-scale data pipelines
Fluency in relational and document data modeling at scale
Experience in defining technical roadmaps alongside engineering leadership
Solid understanding of AWS and proficiency in TypeScript and Node
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
