Staff Software Engineer, Foundations - CAN
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Foundations - CAN to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.
This role will help shape the core data and platform systems that power critical enterprise workflows at scale. You will lead major technical initiatives across ingestion, storage, APIs, and distributed processing while partnering closely with engineering leadership and other teams that depend on the platform. The position calls for deep systems thinking, strong architecture judgment, and the ability to improve reliability, correctness, and throughput across complex data environments.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually
Responsibilities
Lead the migration of the resource data model to a schema-aware Postgres-backed solution
Drive solutions across teams dependent on the Foundations platform
Design for correctness under eventual consistency with advanced data handling techniques
Evolve the data ingestion and pipeline architecture for high-throughput processing
Transform the Query API into a production platform with robust features
Ensure correctness of auditable evidence for compliance
Diagnose production failures specific to real-world data patterns
Set architectural direction for the Foundations stack's streaming and persistent storage infrastructures
Mentor senior engineers and enhance technical capabilities within the team
Champion engineering excellence across data infrastructure
Qualifications
Proven track record in platform migration initiatives while maintaining backward compatibility and system availability
Strong command of streaming and queuing infrastructure (Kafka or equivalent)
Deep experience in distributed systems and data pipeline engineering at enterprise scale
Fluency in relational and document data modeling at scale (Postgres and MongoDB)
Experience in defining multi-quarter technical roadmaps in collaboration with engineering leadership
Solid AWS fundamentals and proficiency in TypeScript and Node
Ability to communicate complex technical topics to various audiences
