Principal Robotics Software Engineer
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Principal Robotics Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.
This role will shape the technical direction for advanced robotics software initiatives that support intelligent systems and safety-focused applications. You will own high-level architecture, guide design decisions, and help ensure the software platform is robust, scalable, and reliable. The position partners closely with multiple engineering disciplines to translate system requirements into high-quality software and validated deployments. You will also mentor other engineers and help drive continuous improvement across the robotics software stack.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $174,000 – $305,000 annually
Responsibilities
Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to enhance vehicle safety and intelligence.
Drive technical vision and establish software architecture for robotics projects.
Design and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant software systems.
Work with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and validation plans.
Ensure software quality via coding standards, testing, and deployment protocols.
Mentor engineers through design reviews and troubleshooting.
Stay current on robotics trends to advance the robotics platform.
Qualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience.
4+ years at a Principal or Staff level in robotics or related fields.
Expertise in modern C++ and Python within Linux environments.
Hands-on experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS or ROS 2.
Experience in motion planning and control theory.
Proven skills in multi-threaded C++ applications and interfacing with hardware and sensors.
Ability to navigate high-level architecture and deep debugging of integration issues.
Strong communication skills to align multi-disciplinary teams through technical excellence.
