About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer Senior Principal - Reliability Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space.

This role will help shape reliable, scalable technology solutions that support a complex retail environment. The position will focus on building reusable engineering foundations, improving cloud efficiency, and advancing technical decisions across the portfolio. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to influence roadmaps, resolve escalated issues, and enable stronger delivery across the organization.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $170,000 – $280,000 annually

Responsibilities

Lead portfolio-level principal meetings to drive alignment and knowledge sharing

Architect reusable foundational code elements across the portfolio

Develop proofs of concept for new technologies

Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage to reduce costs

Mentor and coach direct reports while overseeing performance reviews

Influence technology solutions and roadmap development with cross-functional teams

Serve as an escalation point for high-priority issues and technology disputes

Qualifications

7+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering

Expertise in at least two technologies used by the organization’s IT environment

Experience with common retail business processes

Familiarity with Agile/Lean development practices

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field

Leadership experience preferred but not required

Proficiency in a programming language preferred
